The familiar target face uses concentric scoring zones. The value depends on the round and face, but the principle is always to identify the highest scoring zone touched by the arrow shaft under the applicable rules.
Colours and rings
White, black, blue, red and yellow divide the face into scoring zones. Ten-ring scoring gives two numerical rings within each colour.
The X
An X is the innermost centre used for tie-breaking or specific scoring purposes. In ordinary numerical scoring it normally carries the value of the ten.
Do not touch arrows before scoring
At competitions, arrows and the target face should not be touched until scoring is agreed and recorded.
