Your first competition is mostly about understanding the routine. You do not need an elite score. You need safe shooting, suitable equipment and the ability to follow the officials.
Before the day
Read the prospectus, confirm the round, arrival time, bowstyle and equipment requirements. Pack spares, food, drink and weather-appropriate clothing.
On arrival
Register, find your target assignment and set up where directed. Equipment inspection may apply. Listen carefully to the briefing.
During the round
Follow whistle or timing signals, score carefully, do not touch arrows before scores are agreed, and help the target group keep the event moving.
Judge success sensibly
Finishing safely and learning how the event works is a successful first competition. A personal best is a bonus.
