Sighting in is the process of moving the sight so a repeatable group lands where you are aiming. Do not chase individual arrows. Shoot a small group first, then adjust from the centre of that group.
Start close and safe
Begin at a distance where you are confident every arrow will hit the boss. Confirm the bow, string, arrows, rest, button and sight are secure before making adjustments.
Elevation
With a normal recurve sight, move the sight pin in the direction the group is landing. If the group is high, move the sight up. If it is low, move the sight down. Make small changes and shoot another group before changing it again.
Windage
If a consistent group is left, move the sight left. If it is right, move the sight right. If the arrows are scattered, work on grouping before making large equipment changes.
Record your marks
Once centred, record the sight position and distance. Build a sight-mark table as you move back. Weather, arrows and setup changes can alter marks, so treat them as reliable starting points rather than permanent numbers.
