String contact is common for beginners and is usually a sign that the arm, shoulder, grip or bow setup is putting the forearm into the string path.
Check the bow arm
Do not lock the elbow into an uncomfortable position. Learn the correct rotation for your anatomy and keep the shoulder settled rather than raised.
Check stance and grip
A closed stance or gripping the bow can move the forearm into the string. Use a relaxed, repeatable bow-hand position.
Check brace height
An unsuitable brace height can contribute to poor string clearance. Measure it against the bow manufacturer's recommended range and your established setup.
Wear an arm guard
An arm guard is sensible protection, but it should not be used to ignore a persistent technique or setup problem.
